Worlds Together

Wolrds Together

An international conference exploring the value of Shakespeare and the arts in young people’s lives.
Thursday 6 – Saturday 8 September 2012

Worlds Together is a collaborative conference between Tate Modern, the British Museum, the National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC). It draws together different disciplines in order to ask what is at stake for children’s cultural lives today. It brings the worlds of arts education together across time, place and practice.

The Shakespeare strand of this special three day event is for artists and educators who are passionate about teaching Shakespeare. The conference brings together a unique ensemble of voices, experiences and insights from world leading artists, academics, directors and teachers. What we all share is a deep commitment to making Shakespeare accessible and vibrant for young people across the world.

During the three day event delegate options are organised into two related programmes. The Shakespeare strand specifically explores the world-wide influence of Shakespeare in education; the other a broader view of the contemporary arts education landscape.

Hosted at Tate Modern on London’s Southbank, this event will be one of the first to take place in the Oil Tanks – spectacular new underground spaces which open to the public for the first time in 2012.
